 Cardinal Pie is the Pious Statesman. Born Louis-Édouard-François-Desiré Pie (26 September 1815 – 18 May 1880) in the diocese of Chartes, France, Cardinal Pie rose to prominence in his time as one of the most prolific and authoritative figure of the state of affairs of the world and of the Church.  His dear friend, Pope Pius IX elevated him to the episcopate in 1849. One of his many writings still popular today is on the Social Reign of Christ the King.
